In the first all-German men's final at the world's premier grass-court tournament, No. 6 seed Michael Stich got his first grand slam title, upsetting No. 2 Becker 6-4, 7-6 (7-4), 6-4.

NEW YORK - Monica Seles dotted the "i" and crossed the "t" Sunday on a near-perfect season on the women's tennis tour by winning her second consecutive Virginia Slims Championships final.
Seles, who slugged the ball repeatedly and ferociously from both sides, prevailed against No. 4 Martina Navratilova 6-4, 3-6, 7-5, 6-0 in 2 hours, 8 minutes.
